Captivate 2017 Easy Switch between Filmstrip and Master Slides

Participant ,

I feel like I have to be missing something in Captivate 2017. I used to be able to have a Filmstrip tab AND a Master slides tab on the right sidebar. Since I updated to Captivate 2017, I can either have one or the other. I have to go to to the Menu> Window> Master Slide to switch back to the Master slides then go back to Menu to switch back to the filmstrip. I swear I also used to have a Master Slides icon on that top actions bar to easily switch between the two.

Am I missing a keyboard shortcut or something? How can I make this easier without having to visit them Menu bar every time I want to adjust my master slide.

This is driving me crazy. Please help! lol

That was possible before CP8 for everyone.

Since the change in UI with CP8, the newbie UI decides that you can only see either the Filmstrip or the Master slide. You already feel that I don't like to be controlled by an application, I want to decide myself which panels are visible. That was possible before CP8 for everyone.

Since the change in UI with CP8, the newbie UI decides that you can only see either the Filmstrip or the Master slide. You already feel that I don't like to be controlled by an application, I want to decide myself which panels are visible. That is possible, by switching to the Expert UI which allows you to create workspaces, to open and close panels, to place them in another docking station or even make them floating. Only one drawback: contrary to CP7 UI it is not possible anymore to reduce a panel to an icon, but only to the title bar. That means that the width of the docking stations is remaining to the minimum size of the title bar.

To switch to the Expert UI, go into Preferences, General settings, and choose the option 'Enable custom workspaces....'. You will have to restart Captivate.

I updated from 9 to 2017, but I was able to create the custom workspace before, which solved the issue. I didn't realize that this was an option I would have to enable in 2017. I was trying to move my panels and they were not going anywhere.

I don't love the UI either, but I think I started with 7 so I'm used to it by now.

It was exactly the same situation in 8 and 9. You had also to turn on the Expert UI for both. Only 7 had it on by default, was also closer to the UI of other Adobe applications.

Well I'm glad it helped. I was sure I was missing something simple.
