Hi
So I've been using Captivate 2017 happily and without major incident for the best part of a year now - occasional crashes but nothing I thought exceptional - until today. Today, when I go to either i) start up Captivate, or ii) open projects that were working fine a couple days ago - nothing happens. Captivate looks like it opens (the App menun displays) but weirdly, the 'Opening Project(s)' window is set off a long way from where it normally would be - as I look at it, top left of the screen with at least 50% of the pop-up hidden off-screen rather than the normal middle. I'd wondered if it was a display issue (and it still might be - I had occasion to plug my Mac into a tv the other day - back when everything was working fine) but I've had no joy with any fixes I've seen re. that online (e.g., changing the resolution on the display, etc.) so backed everything up and then tried reinstalling Captivate just in case. Still nothing. When I try and open new/old projects, it looks like it's going for it (i.e., going to create/load them) but nothing actually loads onto the desktop (also, there are no projects available under the Window option on the App menu). Interestingly though, when I try and mess around with Captivate (e.g., publishing), it prompts me to save changes when closing down Captivate... weird.
I am stumped - can someone help me please?
Thanks for your time
Nick
Take backup copies of all project files, then Clear out the Project Cache (via button in Preferences if you can get to it) and then close down Captivate and reset the Preferences via the CleanPreferencesMac utility in the Captivate install directory Utils folder.

Did you recently upgrade your MacOS to High Sierra? That was released after CP 2017 and there are some issues, though generally with publishing.
Search the forum for High Sierra and you can see a variety of issues and suggestions, including a 'hot fix'.

Hi Erik
Thanks very much - I had wondered if it might be the OS but it turned out I hadn't updated in quite a while (since before Cp started playing up). I then tried updating the OS just in case and had got in touch with Apple who told me the same thing as you re. publishing issues - still no joy which is when I turned to the Adobe forum. All good though - turns out I just needed to do a bit of a spring clean (clearing caches, etc.). Thanks again for your help - much appreciated!
Cheers
Nick
