Just installed on a brand new computer running an I7 processor and plenty of memory. Install showed no issues. Click the icon and the initial load screen displays and then nothing. Tried rebooting to ensure all changes were installed, still same thing. Load screen disappears and nothing. Not even tricking itself as I checked Task Manager and it doesn't show it as running. It just won't launch!

Do you Run a Administrator? Where do you have 'My Documents'?

I am not the Administrator on my laptop. My Documents appears in the Users under my login ID. The Adobe Captivate folders (My Adobe Captivate Projects and Adobe Captivate Cached Projects) appear there.
I am not having the same issue with any of the Content Cloud Applications. Just Captivate, if that makes any difference.

You don't need full Administrator rights, just the right to Run Captivate as Administrator.
Where are 'My Documents' pointing to? They could be on a networked drive, and Captivate needs to have the projects on the system itself.

MyDocuments is located on my C: drive.

That possible cause is excluded in that case. I am running Captivate 2017 and 9 on two Win10 systems, just to tell you that there is no incompatiblity? Can you see a log report in the installation folder of Captivate? You are not using multiple monitors?

IT guy here says I will have to request Admin privileges to run it. He found a tech spec saying all versions since v9 require users have Run as Admin capabilities.

Would running multiple monitors affect the usability of Captivate? I use dual monitors primarily. I am having the same issue where it opens to the splash screen, but when attempting to open an existing or new project, it crashes.

Captivate can run on dual monitors. That's not likely to be an issue unless there is something very odd about the monitors (e.g. they are 4k monitors or similar).
More likely is that your Captivate installation is not set up properly on your system. Are you launching it with Run As Administrator access? Have you set the Default Locations in Preferences to point only to folders on your local C drive?

Captivate can run on multiple monitors, but capturing has to happen on the primary monitor, set up to a display percentage of 100%.
Rod, I often point to a local drive that is different from the C-drive which I keep only for the apps, while the D-drive is for all data. No problems, but they have to be local of course, not networked or esternal.
