Hope someone can offer some advise, I have a sim imbedded in Lectora but opens in a separate window, closing the window is triggered by a button, but all it says in the properties for the button is On success: Exit. What should this command actually do? How does Lectora then know that this button has been pressed?

That Exit action is supposed to close the window. But whether or not it WILL actually close the window depends on how the window was actually opened in the first place.
Let's suppose that in your case the window DOES in fact close when the button is pressed, the answer to your question about how the parent Lectora window would know what happened is that it probably won't have the slightest idea. There is nothing in the Captivate environment that is specifically set up to signal outside the window in which it is playing. So if you wanted Lectora to do something AFTER the Captivate sim window had closed, you would have to hire yourself a programmer and get them to pull some tricks to make that happen.
