Captivate 8 and 9 issue: ease-in effect flickers, help!

Guest

Hey all,

Last week, all my effects in Captivate 8 developed a "flicker" bug, where the shape or object flashes in its intended place before travelling to it. I have upgraded to Captivate 9 and unfortunately this bug persists in the Ease-in effect. This is an effect that i use most often so this is a big problem. Has anyone encountered this and knows a fix? My colleagues have had the same issue in Captivate 8 but upgrading to 9 has fixed this for them. I have tried removing fade-ins, restarting, starting new project etc.

Ease-ins in previously made projects run smoothly. Ease-ins that i put in now flicker. Help!

Thanks!

Julia

The flicker issue existed already in CP6. Was this an upgraded project or a project created from scratch in CP9? The problem used to be most visible in HTML5 output and for shapes, is that the case? You probably are using motion paths since you talk about 'traveling to it'. How did you check: after publishing, in preview and which browsers did you test with?

Hi Julia,

Can you please share your Captivate 8 project so that we can investigate the issue at our end? You can upload it to a shared location (Dropbox) and email the link to mdas@adobe.com

Thanks,

Mohana

Hi Julia,

As Lilybiri has said, this has been a problem with earlier version of Captivate too.  If this is still troubling you, there are some workarounds that you could try.

Option 1: Use fly ins combined with a fade in transition (under the Timing Properties) to replicate an ease in effect.  Adjust the motion path of the fly in as required and match the timing on the fade in with the timing of the fly in.  This doesn't give you the option to adjust the ease property like you can with the ease in effect, but, to be honest, I haven't ever noticed any difference between an ease of 0% and one of 100%.

Option 2: Added a 0.1s fade in transition via the Timing Properties.  This works for the stretch effects which used to have the same flicker issue, so maybe it will work for the ease in too.  Worth a try.

I'm having a similar issue in Cp8 with the EaseInTop effect but it could just be me not knowing how to use it properly! It shows itself in the first.5 seconds of the slide, then the ease in takes effect and it fades in. Very odd!
