Captivate 8 file kept on corrupting every time after changes were made and saved. What is the cause please?

Hi,

I have been working on a project in Captivate 8 for the last month. For the past week every time I made any change to the file and after saving it the file wouldn't open again. It kept on saying file could not be opened. Also there was a message saying something about "orphan object". Does anyone know the cause of file getting corrupted? Thank you very much.

Hello,

Are you using Captivate 8.0.1.242? If you are still on an earlier version, please upgrade.

Corruption of a file can be due to many reasons, from the message you get it seems to be a 'lost' object. Can you check in the Library if you see an exclamation mark or a red button next to any of the assets?

A work flow that could help to detect the culprit object (or slide): create a blank new project with same resolution and using same theme. Copy/paste slides to that new project, in small groups until you find where it gets stuck.

Thanks very much for your response.

I'm using the latest version. I will give it a go and see where it gets stuck. Thanks again for your help.

Other causes of corruption might include the location of your project. You want to avoid working on your project while it resides on a network drive, Always work with the project while it is in a local location. You would also be well advised to ensure the path was as short as possible and that you aren't using any odd characters in the file name.

Cheers... Rick
