Hi there,

I'm using Captivate 8 and wish to place a video onto a question slide which I can do but I wish to play and pause the video.

Is this possible?

Cheers

Erika

Maybe.  You can try inserting the video as a Multi-Slide Synchronized Video (even though it's on a single slide) which will then mean the video timeline is locked into the slide timeline. You can drag out the length of the quiz slide and set the pause point of the quiz slide to where you want the video to pause.  Try that in a quick experimental project and see if it does what you want.  The alternate way to pause the slide would be to use a Smart Shape button as other types of interactive objec

If you insert the video as an Event video you can add a skin with player controls.

Hi Rod,

Thank you for coming back to me so quickly.

I actually want the video to appear onscreen and have it pause at a certain time but I don't wish the learner to control playback etc.

Can I do this?

Cheers

Hi Rod,

Just one more question - how would I get the paused video to play again without the user having to click?

Sorry to be a pain.

Cheers

Hi Rod,

Scratch that I just realised they will need to answer the question then submit and press Y to continue so that fixes up the problem.

Thank you again!

Cheers

You wouldn't.  The user would need to do something to unpause the timeline.  In the case of the Quiz question slide, they would need to answer the question and click Submit.  Then when the feedback captions appear, they'd need to click again to quit the caption, which would then unpause the timeline and it would keep playing till the end of the slide timeline (assuming your Success and On Last Attempt actions are set to Continue and not Jump to Next Slide).

Hi Rod,

Yes you are most correct.  After asking you the question I went back and thought how silly I was to ask the question without testing first!

Sorry but again thank you,

Cheers
