Captivate 9 and Quiz Questions falling through

Engaged ,
Jun 16, 2016 Jun 16, 2016

One of our designers is updating a project from CP8 to CP9 and the quiz questions fall through without the student selecting the Submit button.  Sometimes they fall through without the student making a selection.

What could be causing this?

Thank you,

Susan Davis

I have seen this skipping issue caused sometimes by removing the Question Title caption or replacing the Question caption that comes when you first insert the quiz slide.  These two captions are actually special types of objects that MUST be present on the slide in order for it to function correctly.

So click around on the question slide and select what SHOULD be the Question Title or Question caption and verify in the Properties tab that each quiz slide has one of these.

Susan, what do you mean by 'falling through'?

Before the student can click the submit button the quiz will advance to the next question.  Sometimes before the student has made a selection.

Oops! Is this also happening when you create a new question slide? I cannot remember having seen this issue before on the forum. Do you see a pausing point in the question slide timeline? Are all embedded objects (without a timeline) present?

I haven't seen it doing this on a new quiz slide.  This is the second project we've upgraded from an earlier version of Captivate to display this issue.  It is random too.  It doesn't happen on the same slide every time.  On the slides with the issue when the student selects a radio button on a MCQ a gray bar appears over the answer.  Sometimes the radio button colors in, sometimes not.  Sometimes the student has to click the radio button again then the Submit button or when they click the radio button the slide automatically advances.

It looks like an upgrade issue. That gray bar is the 'highlight'. Sorry, but have no idea what is causing it.

If they DO, then the issue must be something else and is most likely something that has been caused by the upgrade.

We've gone back and checked and they are all the default title and caption.  I guess it is a hazard of upgrading projects.  Thanks for the help.

I have had similar issues with the question slides (not from upgrading but similar issues)

My issues where with certain timers within the slide that would either force a continue or force a pause before another interactive section could fully load.

Perhaps try to verify if all the timing items in the timeline still align correctly within your slide?
