Hi,
I am using Captivate 9 and creating some animations using the out-of-the-box effects from Captivate itself. However, whenever I go to preview the module (for example "Next 5 slides") each time my effects look different or simply don't show at all. I then when to publish this module to see if it affects the output, and the same thing was happening.
The only preview mode that seems to be working (90% of the time) was preview in "HTML5 in browser"? Any ideas why the previews are all showing different things? The effects should all work in HTML5 and SWF.
Thanks!
Hello Hannah,
Can you please try using the Captivate 9 Hotfix?

Which effects did you use, can you give more detals? Is this a blank or a responsive project? Did you try the Live preview (Play slide, using the control panel on the Timeline or just the space bar to start)?
Best Preview is always 'in Browser' or 'HTML5 in Browser'.
Try to avoid applying transitions to the objects with effects.
Did you install the hotfix, the present version is 9.0.0.223?

Hi Lilybiri,
Thank you for responding to me. Firstly, yes I am using Captivate version 9.0.0.223.
Also, the project is blank, the previews that are not working are "Play slide", "Project" "From this slide", "Next five slides" and "In Browser"...
"HTML5 in browser" sometimes works. Strangely, the space bar start does also work.
When you say a transition and effect, does this mean an "entrance" and "exit" effect combined with a "basic" or "emphasis" effect?
Thanks!

Transitions can be found at the bottom of the Timing Properties panel. I discovered that some of the included themes have set Transition to 'Fade in' for some objects, and that seems to screw up certain functionality. In CP8 no transition was added at all, this should be a developer's choice. It seems you have issues with the SWF output in that case, because the Preview choices that you mention are creating a temporary SWF. Can you be more specific about the effects? That would give me the opportunity to double-check, because I have explored Effects really in depth for this version.

Hi again,
So the effects it does not work on are mainly 'motion paths' or when an item 'stretches' (e.g. stretch across etc). When I preview it, sometimes it lands where I intend it to, other times it does not. There does not seem to be any logic to it.
Also... when I publish as a '.mp4' or 'SWF' the effects look completely different to what is on my screen (in development) and the 'HTML5' output.

Did you take out the transitions? Did you check that the motion effect can be done, is not stopped by a pausing? Maybe post a screenshot of the timeline, effect timelines expanded, and of the slide with all motion paths visible (which is possible in CP9). I had issues with motion effects in the first version of CP9 for HTML5, not for SWF or preview.

I actually think I am having the same problem as this: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1949543?q=captivate%209%20motion
I did take out the transitions.... and there is no pause on my project!

As you can read there, it should be fixed with the hotfix, it solved my issues. I know the OP in that thread didn't report how it was going after the fix. Bit difficult to solve an issue if you cannot reproduce it. The motion paths in the movie here, work perfectly as I designed them. I double-checked for HTML output as well:

@Mohanadas That was my first question, Mohana, and the OP confirmed that she installed the hotfix.

Thank you both.
The hot fix did work! I am now on version 9.0.0.230 not 9.0.0.223!

Hmm, that is strange because I asked first of all about the hotfix which I installed myself but still have version ending on 223.
