Captivate 9 in Windows 10

New Here ,
Jun 14, 2016 Jun 14, 2016

Just updated to Windows 10.  When I opened up Captivate vs 9, it whole appearance is different.  The start screen is very large, and missing navigation buttons, including the browse button.  Also, on the Filmstrip & Master Guide the scroll bars are missing also.  On the right side of Captivate the Tabs: under Properties, the Option tab ins cut in half.

Which resolution do you use on the monitor? What is the percentage set for fonts: 125, 150, 175?

Agreed, it's almost surely a Windows 10 setup issue. It likes to assume 'big' in case you're on a tablet, or something. Check your display resolution...

Really? That sounds not correct, sorry. Captivate 9 is the first version that plays well with Windows 10. I am using it with that version on both my laptop and Surface Pro. Those have a retina screen. If you go back to compatibility mode you'll lose the feature that it can run on retina screens. Did you check the resolution, and more specifically the % for font size?  That is mostly the cause of what you showed in your screenshots, because Win10 tends to make that % high like 175%. Put it back to a normal 125%.

Did you find a workaround?  I'm on a Surface Pro 3 / Captivate 9 (v9.0.2.421) and have miniature menu fonts as well.  Changing the resolution in Win 10 display settings minimizes everything else, therefore is not a permanent option.

I am on Surface Pro 4, font size set to 200%. Captivate works fine with the

exception of some tiny cursors.

I took out your personal credentials, too dangerous on a public forum.

Everything works fine, MS applications and Adobe application. Only apps that did not yet adapt to a retina screen cause issues, but not those that have upgraded for retina screens like Captivate 9. That font size was even the recommended % by Win10 when installing.

Only when you have to capture the screen, you'll have to edit the ini file to change the dipawareness, you'll get a warning when you try to record a software simulation. But afterwards you have to reset it again. I recommend to have two AdobeCaptivate.ini files to switch quickly.

This is ridiculous.  I have my own licensed Captivate 9.02/Win 10 at home on a 1920x1080 HP Envy 17"and it works fine. Took delivery at work of a Surface Book, had them install their licensed version of Captivate, updated to 9.02 - can't record the screen and get a message about changing .ini file.

Get tiny tiny Captivate on the Surface Book 3000x2000.

Edit: I found a fix of sorts

Dan Antonielli describes in detail his fix here. It involves registry changes so if you are not confident - look away. There is also a helpful Youtube video based on the Antonielli fix.

The most surprising thing is that Adobe has known about this issue for more than 18 months and hasn't resolved it.
