Captivate 9 - irregular hotspots to play video content

Hi everyone - I'm fairly new to Captivate; our company is about to upgrade to v9 so I have a question about controlling video clips.

I'm about to start a new elearning project but I am holding off until we do upgrade; the basic principle is that as a user you are presented with a video still that you have to click on the right part of the still in order for the video to proceed. Then after a few seconds the video stops at another still, you make another decision and the video carries on.

What I want to find out is how to make irregular hotspots to control the video. I am planning on having multiple hotspots on the image (for wrong selections) and one correct selection. If you select a wrong hotspot, the you get a message telling you made a mistake.

Is it possible to have several irregular shaped/polygon hotspots on a non-question slide?

many thanks

frank

Hi there

I believe that's possible to achieve using Smart Shapes. There should be a right-click option that allows you to convert the shape to a freeform.

Cheers... Rick

You'll see a different use case where irregular shape buttons are used as hotspots for a custom hotspot questions:
