Download bar appears but no video. I have tried mpeg4, flv and f4v. I am testing the software on a MAC.

Which version do you use? Are you using 9.0.1.320? Is this event video or multislide video that you embedded?

As Lilybiri‌ mentions, there are differences in appearance based on how you added the video to your Cp project.

There are also differences on how you preview, I've had the best luck with video when I publish to a webserver and access the html pages via a valid url.

Typically, I'll publish to a DEV server, using a local url, testing and republishing.

Next, I'll turn on reporting capabilities, and publish to a PILOT LMS server, making files only available to my team; once these are given the go ahead, I'll then republish from Cp and publish to our PRODUCTION lms, testing yet again!

Redundant yes, but many issues are resolved by this workflow.

Yes, I just encountered this problem.

I used captivate last week for the first time and the publish was simple and worked as expected. Since then I've gone around and told many leaders in my department that we should be using it and how I am going to send them an example... well now when publishing a video to my computer All I get is audio. I've tried this with both the software simulation and video demo projects (slides vs. video record) and get the same result. Note that the preview>Projects look fine.

I just recorded a short 5 second video and it published fine. does anyone know if there is a time limitation or otherwise faced this issue in the past?

Please, any help would be appreciated.

Try previewing it in a browser instead of just previewing the slide or project. That's what worked for me. I'm also on a Mac. I use MP4 files.

I previewed in the browser and no problem, but again the publish to video only creates an audio file.

Did you have a similar problem?

I am on a Mac and publish a zip file (look for the box to check on your publish screen) and then upload to Adobe Connect with that zip file. I found it is much faster and creates far less issues. I don't know if you can do the same. I've never had the problem you are showing, but my guess is it has something to do with how your file is published.

Are you using a button to advance to the next slide? Maybe there is a timing issue (probably not - but something to check). Do you have your video set to auto play?

Last thought - Is your file publishing to the same browser that you use later to show the file? If not, that might be your problem.

‌first of all thank you for trying to help.

i cant publish to anything other than my computer (proprietary content).

the .mo4 will play when the video capture is short, regardless, when I drag the file to a firefox window it plays fine, just not in windows media player or IE. What publish settings are best for Windows? I just use the default which is CUSTOM.

Ok, someone from IT has helped to shed some light on the matter.

Supposedly the .mp4 created is a little different from typical .mp4's. He says that in the file, the audio track comes first, followed by the video. Also the file is exactly 30 fps vs a more typical 29.97 fps.

He ran my .mp4 through an encoder again, and it swapped the order back to the typical video then audio sequence and supposedly my video plays in windows media player just fine.

I created a 30 second file using just video demo and that .mp4 plays just fine. But when I publish a 379 second file for whatever reason, it won't play the video portion. I'm not sure if the sequence thing is present in the 30 second file.

Again, I'm just using the default custom setting. Is there another setting (youtube/ipad, etc.) that works better with windows media player?
