Hello,
I've used captivate 8 on a large 30" desktop monitor in the past, but recently switched to a new 18" laptop running windows 10. The perils of getting old and having back pain.
In any case, I saw that Captivate 9 came out and assumed that the update might address screen size issues and compatibility with windows 10.
Unfortunately, from what I can tell:
- Captivate 9 with no modifications seems to assume that one is running without any screen scaling or high dpi settings which is applicable only to those with perfect vision or very high resolution monitors.
- Setting a DPI of 150%, the minimum my eyes can handle, results in a laptop dropping from 1080p to 720p resolution, which should be good enough. Lightroom and nearly every other app has no problem with running at 720p (1280x720). Unfortunately, while captivate 9 seems ok, it actually generates slides that are too big to fit in the screen (even with magnification reduced) or cuts off half of menus, the right side of the interface, or parts of some icons. The only reasonable way captivate 9 at 150% DPI on the laptop is in win8 compatibility mode and even then properties window for editing object attributes uses half size fonts and generates severe eye strain. It would be nice if Adobe incorporated more control of UI elements in the app preferences (even a small, and large option for fonts and icons would be nice).
- Setting a DPI of 200%, the vision my eye prefers and used to see when it had access to a 30" desktop monitor, gives a resolution on the laptop that is lower than what captivate requires although with some fudging I can make it mostly work.
I'd appreciate any feedback or helpful suggestions.
Regards,
Matthew Marlowe
