Captivate 9 on November 2016 MacBook Pro

Dear All,

I'm using a beloved but archaic MacBook Pro circa April 2009.

I've read that Captivate will usually run slower on a Mac with similar specs to a PC.

I'm planning to purchase a new MacBook Pro that's both lighter and brighter (processing speed) for Captivate.

Would appreciate accounts from someone who can compare speed of Captivate 9 on a new MacBook Pro to an older Mac or a current PC. Also, experiences with the new Touch Bar while using Captivate 9.

Keep in mind that Captivate 9 was released before the current Mac OS Sierra, as well as the announcement of the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, You may need to find a third party utility, or map you own functionality, from Captivate to the Touch Bar. Adobe hasn't released many updates in between major releases, so there may be a bit of a delay before that kind of support is built in.

I can't give you specific speed comparisons, but you should definitely max the available RAM to the top of Apple's currently supported specs; consider a SSD hard drive and limit the Bluetooth, WiFi and Ethernet connections while using Cp for best performance.

If drive space allows it, you might want to create a folder in the documents directory that is shared between users, and create a special user account 'Dev' as an example, to use while running Cp. Keep the web browsing, streaming media, iTunes, and social media distractions closed while Cp is running. Then, take regular breaks where you login to the standard user account to check mail, social media and web surf.
