Captivate 9 project - First slide audio has echo when published as .mp4 - What is causing this?

Issue:  Captivate 9 project - First slide audio has echo when published as .mp4

So far I have recreated first slide.  Export and Imported the audio file in and out of file.  Removed " and other special characters in closed caption text and else where in project.  Made the audio file run the entire slide, etc.  And it still has echo at certain parts when published as .mp4.  It is worth noting that when played from Captivate it plays fine in browser and also plays fine when published as SCORM, SWF, etc.  But when published as mp4 only first slide has issue with echo.  Very frustrating.

I discovered that if I remove the smart shape I had on slide one which also had audio - that it resolves the issue.  I have no idea why this is so and in my opinion is an obvious glitch.  So I just used snag-it to take a photo of first slide with smart shape, then deleted slide images, and imported the image I took using snag-it so that the slide still looks the same, but is now one image (no smart shape).

Adobe,

Is this a glitch because smart shapes can have animation and for whatever reason it isn't supported if published as MP4 video???

It probably is not a glitch at all, but the way Captivate is designed. It is certainly not linked with the behavior of shapes. You can have two audio clips playing at the same time, and pausng the slide in any way will not necessarily stop the audio.

Maybe you don't totally understand the different ways of having audio on a slide, and which type of audio can be stopped by a pausing point or a pause? I just published a post with an interactive presentation and the audio types are covered:

"not a glitch at all, but the way it is designed" - ha!  Spoken like a true IT person.  Translation:  It is designed poorly - something was not thought of or tested, thus can be described as a "glitch".

Yes I do understand different ways of having audio on a slide.  I also understand that more than one audio clip can play at same time.  (not the case with my issue - only had one audio clip).  I also understand that pausing slide doesn't necessarily stop the audio.

Though I agree audio "shouldn't be related" to or linked to the behavior of shapes or the way a project is published (the latter being what I think issue is, because publishing for SCORM, swf, etc. had no issue - just when publishing as MP4).  I question your statement that you are "certain" the two are not related, especially when you have not even tried to test the issue first hand as I have.  How about you create a project in Captivate 9 that is 3 or 4 slides long and place audio on each slide, make sure the first slide has audio and a smart shape (mine was a purple box).  Then save the project and publish as MP4 video.

I would also be willing to provide you a sample of two identical video projects in Captivate 9 (one with the smart shape and one without).

I am not an IT person and I have tested more use cases than you can imagine, for many users on this forum. If you are certain that this is a glitch, please post a bug report. Check first your version number, it should be 9.0.2.437.

Wasn't necessarily calling you an IT person - just making a comparison to put into perspective glitch and design flaw are kind of same thing.  I too have tested many use cases as part of my job, on this forum, Articulates forum, and others.  I'm just troubled by the "know all" tone of your post.  I'm actually in the process of reporting the glitch, but wanted to update my originally question/post to forum with an answer that resolved by problem - thus could help someone else.  FYI - just because you respond quickly to "lots" of people posts to forums doesn't make you helpful.  Though many of your posts are helpful - I find a lot of them are just noise.  It seems you are all about the quantity of responses and not so much the quality of responses.

I didn't start out that way.  Your tone set the stage.
