Hi,
Whenever I try to record a new "Video Demo" and I choose "Application Region" Captivate always crashes when the countdown finishes after I hit "Record." I didn't have this problem earlier, but now I can't seem to avoid it.
Has anybody else been having these issues?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Are you on Windows? In that case, do you Run Captivate as Administrator? It is essential for recording Video Demo or Software sims/

Thank you for your reply!
Yes, I'm on Windows 10. Unfortunately I'm not an administrator because its a work PC, but I didn't used to get the problem.
Earlier, I was able to select "Application Region" just fine without any crashing. The issue just started recently. I tried shutting down/restarting the PC and I still crash when I select the "Application Region" option.

You don't need full administration rights, just to be able to set up Captivate shortcut key as 'Run as Administrator'. It feels like latest versions are even more strict about that than previous ones. Not for other Captivate work, only for recording. Can you ask the IT people?
Since the issue started recently... can you reflect on what has changed? You could try to clear the cache and clean the Preferences.

Okay, I can try to run as administrator.
Since the issue started, the only thing that I noticed differently is the crashing when ever I select "Application Region" and also that lately every time I am able to successfully record something (I use "Application Window" or "Screen Area") I publish an MP4 and the MP4 would be corrupt. When I look at the metadata of the published MP4, I noticed that it is 0 bytes in size. So lately it looks like Captivate is publishing empty MP4s ever time.

Should have asked this first of all: are you talking about a Video Demo project (cpvc) or a normal cptx-project?

Oh sorry I probably should've mentioned it earlier too. But this is for a Video Demo project.

No, my bad, it was in your Subject title well indicated. Apologies.
I cannot double-check however, since I don't have CP9 anymore (only CP2017). Can you please try with 'Run as Administrator'?

Yes I will try that. Unfortunately I will have to wait a few minutes for IT because they are not in the office just yet but I will let you know how it goes when I'm able to try it.
Also, I thought that CP9 was the latest version? Is there a way for me to download the latest version from the Creative Cloud?

No, CP2017 was released several months ago.
If you have a subscription license, download the trial version, your ID will be recognized. You can have both CP9 and CP2017 installed, but I had a perpetual (temporary) license for CP9 which expired.

Oh I was mislead. For some reason I thought I had version 9, but once I double checked (in Captivate > Help > About Adobe Captivate) I see that I am on the 2017 Release. Version 10.0.0.192.
Sorry about the confusion.
