I am using latest Captivate 8 on win 7 and 8 bit 64 and 32.
I need to create a demo of captivate program and for that I used 2 blank slides and input text captions, 4 sentences and one object at beginning and quiz on the end with one of each question example. I want that text captions on beginning to appear on screen one after another with 2 seconds delay and that if user wants can speed up the text appearing by clicking anywhere on slide. On timeline I shifted the text captions as I want but when I click preview or publish project it only shoes title that is set to start with slide time delay 0 sec and only goes on next text caption if button PLAY is clicked, but I am hiding the playbar in final product. If the person clicks next it just goes on next slide, without showing the text captions on first slide.
When I click preview slide it works and shows as I want but when I click preview project that one slide stops at title and clicking next goes on next slide.
I want that text appears one caption per time, with delay. I want that user can speed up the text captions and objects by clicking anywhere on the slide, I want that user sees NEXT slide button only after all the animations and text captions are shown ( I understand this will require advance action formatting).
In drag and drop option is it possible to object to return to original position if person drag them incorrectly to "reset slide"?
You cannot combine your two requests: clicking on the slide would mean a click box covering up the whole slide, but you'll lose the functionality of the other shape buttons since they are below the click boxes. There you'll have to look for another way.
As for the shape buttons, at this moment they all pause at the default time of 1.5secs. You have to delay that pause at least until the last text caption has appeared. If you don't add audio (don't see any at this moment), have the pausing after t

About your first question, because this is a double question: can you please post a screenshot of the timeline of that slide? I suspect you have one or more interactive objects with pause(s). Speeding up is not done like with a movie control panel in Captivate.
D&D question: If you limit Accept to the correct drag sources, you can indicate to have the incorrect drag sources getting back to their position. Is that what you want?

If you don't add audio (don't see any at this moment), have the pausing after the beginning of the third caption, and you don't have to make that slide duration that long since the slide will pause until the user clicks any of the buttons.
Speeding up cannot be done with a click box over the whole slide, tell me an alternative with a smaller interactive object. You could use micro-navigation, but from your questions I conclude that you don't have much experience with Captivate, micro-navigation is perhaps too complicated.

I just removed pausing for all 5 buttons and now slide is advancing normally, but what is pausing button doing anyway??
And there is no way to set that clicking on slide advances the text appearing? What I need is that for example if I have a list in bulletins that each item on list appears after another, but if it is to slow user can click and speed it up, and this is not possible? Do I need to make copy paste of a slide and on each new slide add one text line and so user will speed up by clicking next? strange?
I will check your suggestion on drag and drop issue.

May I suggest to take some training, please! I tried to tell you, keep the pausing, make the slide shorter (less frames, smaller size). Here is an old article I wrote about the functionality of the very important Timeline panel:
Tiny Timeline Tidbits - Captivate blog
You didn't answer my other question, so cannot help you with the speeding up. Read the Micronavigation blog post. Then you'd need the pausing point.

Thank you for your suggestion for training. I will try that as well eventually, but unfortunately I have very little time in between courses and lectures. I did not noticed the pauses until I posted screen shoot so that is my error, my mistake. I understand now what was causing the issue. I need to prepare demo version so others can use it and it needs to be as simple as possible, that is why I am looking for easier solution then programming advance actions (and I did micro navigation already in this project as well) because if end user messes something up it could destroy his entire project. I am creating demo cptx for others to just drag and drop their text and images and create project by using this one as frame. I used Captivate over one year ago for couple of months and created lots of modules and projects with ease but since that I haven't touched captivate and now I am back again and getting it to be as simplier to use for my other colleagues who haven't use it ever is my goal.

I think you're approaching this a little bit like someone who is about to give bows and arrows as gifts to a group of children.
Some things should never be given to anyone without adequate training and appropriate warnings.
Captivate is one of those things.

Lilybiri solved all my problems, but most importantly she jump started my brain again for Captivate, cant believe that not using it for a year would decrease all my basic knowledge regarding programming with it. After Lilybiri "slap my fingers" with "seek training" remark I stopped, took a long breath and finished my project in 20 minutes (after two days of struggling), I am sending it right now for visual verification (so boss can say it is pretty). I understand and fully support your opinion Rod, but we all just do what bosses want. Imagine explaining in 15min or less how to use WIN 8 system to a person struggling with Win95.
THANK YOU Lilybiri for the slap, it was just right at right time. I've been lecturing for over a year with only some Sat and Sundays off and my brain freezes now and then.
Text captions not appearing - problem was paused buttons, solved in timeline.
Drag and drop issue - solution on blog (plus I do not know if this is a bug but when I opened project I could not get drag and drop properties to show up, I had to open new project, create drag and drop and then go back to first project to modify drag and drop slide)
Clicking any where on slide to speed up timeline - possible but with advance actions - too complicated for WIN95 users, skip it.
Thank you.

Rod, this behavior seems to be become generalized. I wished someone could calculate one day the cost of the lost time because of lack of training. Frustrations cannot be measured in dimes
