Captivate Quiz not active in Moodle

New Here ,

Hi,

I'm having a problem with a captivate SCORM project in Moodle - it works perfectly until I get to the first question slide and its like the slide is inactive and I cannot select any options except for submit, and when I click submit the incorrect answer message appears but when its cleared again it won't allow me to select any of the options. When I close it and re-open it works fine.

I've also tried changing the first question and the same problem occurs even with a different question. I've built 2 other modules with the same template and the quizzes are working fine but I just can't figure out what is causing it to freeze on the first question...

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Have you removed any of the default captions that should appear on quiz question slides?  E.g. there should be a caption that tells you what type of question it is (True/False etc) and another one that contains the actual question itself.  If you have removed either of these and replaced them with normal text captions or shapes, then the question will malfunction.

Have you tried uploading this same SCORM to SCORM Cloud to see if the issue persists there?

Ah - yes, I have removed the default captions!!! So I need to redo the slide and hide them for it to function ok???

Thanks Rod, great to cast some light on this!

You need to redo the Quiz Question slides yes.  But you will not be able to hide the default captions.  However, you can usually make them disappear by changing their text colour to the same as the background or similar methods.  The main point is that these captions and at least some text MUST be present on the quiz slide for it to function correctly.

(One of these days Adobe will wake up to the fact that they need to disable the ability to delete these all-important captions on quiz slides.)

Brilliant Rod, thank you - working to a college deadline for a final submission and this bug has been driving me mad.

Thanks again,

Norma

Hi Rod,

So I've redone all the questions leaving all the default captions (but I changed the font and text), seemed to work ok and then again the same problem re-occurs, but it seems to to be the 1st slide in the knowledge check that's the problem, the slide I had with first question was a drag & drop interaction that is included in the quiz so that started to act up and the same as above I couldn't click anything except submit, I made a few changes to it and moved it to last in the quiz and then the next question that I replaced it with as the first in the quiz did the same thing....

Any other possibilities????

Thanks

Have you tested it in SCORM Cloud?

Then your issue is with your own LMS.  It may be due to server latency, that is, too many users all hitting the same LMS and overloading it to the point where it cannot handle the data.  Either way, the fact that your course works perfectly well on SCORM Cloud pretty much establishes that the issue is NOT the course and MUST be the LMS.
