Hello all,
I have been working on a project and I was just trying to figure out what happens to library files when you publish a project. I noticed that captivate seems to rename your videos and audio files.
When the project was put into an LMS the client noticed some errors coming from some MP4 files, although everything is working just fine. I noticed that these files were the original names for all of the videos that are in the courses library. It's not causing any issues I was just trying to figure out how it captivate handles your files. Does anyone have a good article somewhere I can read up on this? I haven't been able to find anything.
Oh and I'm using Captivate 9 and I published as HTML 5.

Hello Adobe,
We experience the same problem. Because we want to use videos in a central directory for multiple projects on a webserver, we do not use the vr directory. We want to keep the names of the original inserted .mp4 files. The files keep their names in the library but after publishing the project to html5, all the included files have new names, including images!
The Question: Is there a way to NOT change the filenames from used videos from the library at publishing?

Hi Gerard,
I think you may be misunderstanding the purpose of this forum. This is NOT Adobe. It's just a forum set up BY Adobe for people using their software to support one another by discussing issues and offering solutions. It's just a user community.
If you want to get through to the people at Adobe, you might need to find another way. They have support phone numbers in most major countries and there is a form provided for logging enhancement requests and bugs on their website.
Regarding your issue with the videos: You might want to look at hosting your videos on a streaming server and then using the Web Object in Captivate to display those videos on slides. That would give you the ability to reuse videos. But if you insert the videos into Captivate projects as Progressive Download videos then they will be published to the vr folders.

Thank you RodWard. I already talked to Adobe Support about this. They have no solution.
We cannot seem to get it to work with video. We now do this with a web object, That also seems to work with relative path linking etc.
