Change behavior of Continue button on final Exam/Results slide

New Here ,
May 25, 2016 May 25, 2016

The Preferences for the final exam is set to infinite attempts with the Retake button showing. But the continue button is also displayed. Which is fine, if it would do what I want it to do but the Action drop-down is grayed out.

I want the Continue button to take the user back to the TOC where he/she can review the material again before taking the exam. When I insert a page AFTER the results page, the Continue button moves to this next page. Which is fine, but.........not what I want

Anyone have any ideas? Saba is the LMS. Could Saba be configured to respond to the Continue button

Thanks in advance!

Only the action On Success is relevant if you give Infinite attempts. That action should be executed when the Continue button is used. That Continue button will never react to a Failure since you have Infinite attempts. That is the design of the score slide.

Is that a custom TOC on a slide? Or are you talking about the default TOC that you want to pop up?

You could use the On Enter event of the score slide to open that TOC (if it is in Overlay mode), when the system variable cpQuizInfoPassFail has the value 0 or False.

Thanks for your always rapid response!

When I put a dummy slide after the Results, fail the exam, and click Continue it moves to the dummy slide. So the Continue button is only there when you Fail-right? I suppose I could just put further instructions on that page and a Jump button to the TOC (slide2). Guess that would solve it.

The TOC is just slide #2 with topics and a completion checkmark for each topic when the last slide of each topic is viewed.

I think adding another On Enter Event might through Saba for a complete loop!

No, the Continue button should be always there, success or Failure. For Success the actions specified in Quiz Preferences, Pass or Fail should be triggered. That action is set to Continue by default, but you can replace it by any other action. The action Failure will only happen after the last attempt. More info:

I think Rod's answer is a little more complete as to why the Continue button was non-functional.

Check the value of the Quiz > Settings > Required dropdown menu.  If it is not already set to Optional, try that setting.  You may have been using one of the more restrictive settings for this dropdown and sometimes the results can be a little confusing.

Needless to say if any other options in the Required dropdown are set to is anything OTHER than Optional, it would make sense that the Continue button shouldn't be displayed. One more improvement for Adobe?

Actually ALL of those settings under the Required drop-down are there because someone proposed a use case where they WANTED to restrict what should happen.

The problem (to my way of thinking) is that there's no automatic feedback that pops up to tell the user WHY nothing is happening when they click that Continue button.  That would be an improvement for sure.
