Closed Captioning for Video Demo

Community Beginner ,

Is there a way to add closed captions to a recorded video demo? Currently the recorded video merges the video and audio and I assumed one could add closed captioning to that in the Edit Video Demo section. I was wrong. I can't add closed captions to new narrations in the edit video demo window.  I was hoping I could add closed captioning in the mail side that houses the video demo layer. I was wrong. Is there something I'm missing?

If not, can I suggest that the video demo layer in the slide can allow closed captioning? It seems odd that it doesn't have that option.

Closed Captions in Captivate are actually part of the Skin (playbar and TOC).  That part doesn't get published when you publish to video MP4.

If you want to have something that looks like Closed Captioning in the video, then you'll need to add timed Smart Shapes to each slide and make them look like the normal Closed Captioning.

My apologies for not being clear.

I understand that with Captivate 2017, under the Add Slide button, there are options to add Blank Slide, Content Slide, Question Slide, etc. in addition to a Video Demo Slide. After going through the steps to record a demo, I thought it would be easy to add closed captions to the audio/video layer like it would if I were to import a video.  An option like that does not seem to appear in the normal project window or in the Edit Video Demo window.  Is there something that I am missing?

The end goal is in HTML5 format with the interactive play/pause/cc/ skin.

Do you need to publish to MP4 or could you cope with a published cptx-rproject? You can add CC to a video which is inserted as a synchrnoized video in a cptx-project. That means thay you need to publish to HTML5, not to MP4.
