Do you use Advanced Actions?
Do you use JavaScript to edit numeric values entered by the students?
If yes to either question, then you might want to do some more research in this forum before your switch.

Advanced Actions are very powerful tools. There are probably many comments in this forum about Advanced Actions.
If you want to get a quick high-level view about what they are and how to use them, you can watch this youtube video at: Adobe Captivate 8 - Use Advanced Actions and Variables to Hide a Next Button - YouTube

Advanced and shared actions allow you to:
Difference between normal advanced actions and shared actions? Shared actions have a higher degree of reusability because they allow to change elements in the actions, named parameters.
One simple example: clicking on a button should show several objects (image, text, shape) and hide other objects. If you group both sets of objects, you still need two commands:
That means you need an advanced standard action. If you create this as a shared action, when you apply the action to an event, you'll be able to choose which groups or objects to show/hide.
A very frequent asked for use case: user has to do several interactions before the Next button shows up.
My blog is almost totally about advanced and shared actions. Here is a link, that proves the power of shared actions:

There were issues with converting Advanced actions, but those are solved with the hot fix, which you should install right away after installing CP9.
Upgrading a project can always lead to issues. Another important change is the way states (for interactive objects) are defined. I heard about issues there as well. Shape buttons on master slides will lose their rollover and down states, no patch yet to solve that. Effects have changed a lot as well, so expect not to have everything upgraded smoothly when you use effects. You cannot combine transitions with effects (check that before upgrading).
