Copying and Pasting eLearning Brothers Game into Captivate

Hello,

I have Captivate 9.0.1.320.  I created a elearning module.  Then I downloaded the Category Challenge game from eLearning brothers.  Both the module and the game work fine.

I tried copying and pasting the game into the module and that did not work.  When playing the game a java message appears and the game goes to the Results slide (although the game isn't complete).

I saw some info on a hot fix but it looks like I am already on a higher version of Captivate where that fix no longer applies.

I also tried adding an action to the last slide of my module - On Success Open URL or file and pointing to the html version of the game.  That doesn't work either.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Here's what I found from eLearning Brothers -- be sure the game being downloaded matches the course (responsive or non-responsive).  To get the downloaded file to function properly when copying and pasting into another file, save the game file to let it upgrade to the version of Captivate you have then close and reopen it.  It will copy/paste and work correctly.

When you copy and paste slides from one CPTX into another it will often break the copied functionality because Captivate may rename some of the objects to ensure they have unique identifiers in the destination project.

So you may need to go through all of the objects on the slides that you have copied and find the ones that have been given new (random-generated) object names and compare with the same objects in the original CPTX.  In some cases you may not be able to reassign them the same object names (because the destination project may already have objects with those names).

Your issue with the Open URL or file action not working could be related to Flash Global Security disabling the link when the content is played from your local hard drive.  Try uploading your content to a web server and test from there.  Flash Global Security doesn't usually then present a problem.

Thanks for responding, RodWard! I reviewed the objects, variables and actions - it looks like captivate does change the names of things when copy and pasted but they update across the board to not cause a problem. I couldn't find the trigger that caused the game to think it was over before the user clicked all the buttons And the first question always mis-scored. I also tried running the course with the button linked to the separate game course I'm my LMS (cornerstone) and I couldn't get that to work either.

I ended up rebuilding  the game from scratch (using my own actions and elearning brothers images). That worked but I was excited about the pre-made games from elearning brothers and hoped it would lead to faster development.

Is anyone using the game assets? How are you integrating the games with your courses? I also posed the question on the elearning bros forum.
