Courses Not Completing (Slide Views)

Some of the courses I have built are not completing properly. Most of the time they do but out of the blue I will get a call that the course did not complete. Usually a slide or slides in the middle just don't register. I contacted Adobe support and they said the modules are all configured correctly. Anybody seen this before? Is it a network issue? LMS issue, a browser issue? I really am just not sure where to start looking for a solution. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

How do you know slides in the middle did not register?  Are you going by the checkmarks on the TOC?

That is part of it. I am also using a shared action on my knowledge checks to show the play bar on successful completion of the slide (using an increment of a user defined variable). As I open the module logged in as the user through the LMS, the play bar is not visible on the same slides that are not checked on the TOC. I have also removed any ability for the user to skip multiple slides at a time. So they should not be able to skip chunks of slides along the way.

This is not exclusive to a single project. I have seen completion issues on modules that were very complex all the way down to a simple imported PowerPoint presentation with zero actions or programming. Maybe I am way off here, but it seems logical based on what I know to this point.

I cannot tell just from this information what the issue might be.  Intermittent issues are the worst ones to try and track down.

But I would like to submit that the whole approach of trying to force adult learners down any kind of learning pathway by removing navigation options and other restrictions on their freedom is at best a flawed approach to learning.  It isn't the way anyone likes to learn, least of all adults.

I would by looking at making the content so interesting and engaging that people actually WANTED to go through it.  If that's not possible, make the final assessment challenging enough that people who skip the content won't be able to pass it whereas those that do the hard yards will get the knowledge and get through in less time.  That's what I do.  No guessable questions.

I completely agree with you. Unfortunately I lost that battle. Trying to gradually massage things in that direction. Until then, I am trying to make the forced pathway as painless as possible.
