Cp 8 Back button in quiz slides not working

Community Beginner ,

While it worked for a few months, the back button in quiz slides is now (Jan. 2016) moving users to the next question instead of back to the previous question or content slide. Any idea about why this is happening now and how to fix it?

I am using an LMS (Blackboard), but this is happening within the project after it is fully downloaded from the server. I do have the "send data on every slide" checked because of problems with the LMS recording the scores, I need to be able to see where the connection or data stopped sending. I have the number of attempts set at 3 for most questions and for the overall quiz. The next button is enabled on the quiz slides in case the user does go back and has already submitted the correct answer on a quiz slide and needs to move past that slide again.

Checking the "Allow Backward Movement" seems to work. So, checking the show back button on the quiz properties for each quiz slide doesn't automatically allow the user to move back? I have to do a two-step process--check a  button on each quiz slide and one in the quiz preferences.

I still can't figure out why it was working before, though. Maybe I did something that I undid when publishing it this go around.

Thanks.

If you look at the Quiz settings, do you have the option "Allow Backward Movement" selected?

Hi there

To my knowledge, the allow backward movement option is a global option. Upon turning it off, the back button is typically removed from the question slides. So if at some point you turned it off, I believe you should have been presented with an option asking if you wanted to turn off the button for all Question slides.

At one point I may have gotten that warning box. I had to turn off the backward movement because of the LMS scoring and removing the Next button. I wanted users to have to submit the question before moving forward, but if they moved back past an already correctly answered question, they couldn't move forward through it again because it couldn't resubmit. So for a while, I disabled back movement in slides to avoid users getting frozen on a question. Ultimately, I added the "Next" button and just trusted that users would follow directions to not use the Next button unless they were scrolling through an already answered question. If there is a better way to move back and forth through the questions after they have been answered, I'd love to know it.

When I changed that, I thought I'd rechecked the necessary boxes for the back button, but apparently, I hadn't. I appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Sally
