Cp9 Crashes every time I try to copy a slide - argh!

I'm trying to copy a slide from one course into another course.  Without fail, Cp9 crashes every time I try to copy a slide.  I am able to duplicate the slide within the course in which it originates.

To try to fix this:

I made a very small single slide course, closed all other courses, and cleared the cache, thinking this might help.

I don't know how to perform the other suggestion of clearing preferences(?).  I spent a lot of time with the Object Style manager and don't want to have to re-do all my styles/prefs, but I will if I have to.

Also, my preferred theme is bloated, and I want to trim it down to only the requisite slides - what are they?

BTW, everytime I try to load my theme into a new course, it always get the prompt that the theme cannot be loaded, but, in reality it does load.

I'm asking experts to help me sort this out.  I very much appreciate any help.

Thank you!

Clean the Preferences is my first advice, but be sure that your custom Themes are safely stored.

Run the CleanPreferences file appropriate for your OS. You can find them in the subfolder Utils under the installation folder of CP.

In order not to lose custom items, you could read this article:

I am a bit puzzled by what you tell about OSM and Themes: all object styles are part of the theme. What is bloated?

Hi - Thanks!

First, I did not realize that the OSM settings were stored as part of the theme.  Thanks for clarifying that.

My theme has duplicate slides for quiz questions, as well as Master slides that I created that I no longer want.  So I just want to clear out slides that I don't use.  But I know there are certain slides that must be present in my Master slides, so I don't want to delete them by accident.  I've heard you mention that there are 8 (?) Master slides that must be present(?).  Was wondering what these were.

thanks again!

The "Theme Ignorance" is for me the third stumbling block for any Captivate user, even most books and training don't seem to get it:

Challenges for Starters - Captivate blog

Minimum number of  Master slides, required for any theme is 6 (I mention that explicitly in the link I provided in my first answer): Main Master slide, Blank master slide, 4 Quizzing master slides (for different types) and Score Master slide. There is no maximum number of master slides for content master slides. Be careful with the Quiz master slides, because they have a lot of embedded objects with attached functionality.

As for the master slides that you no longer want, be sure to check that they are indeed unused in the project, and save your custom theme again.
