Hi All,
I created a custom drag and drop a while ago and it was working perfect. The only problem was that at a certain moment my feedback disappeared.
Now that I have worked on the other screens and looked at it again, it shows no more feedback after submitting.
I also created another custom drag and drop and that one works.
Now I still have a few questions regarding this custom drag and drop screens.
- The user should be able to do the question 3 times. As the screen is acting strange I can't test this. I set the question to 3 attempts. When I submit my answers for the screen that does show feedback, this is what happens. It shows a "failure" or "success" text and it goes away after a second. As I set it to 3 attempt you would expect it to ask to try again, but nothing happens. It just shows the screen as I left it after my first attempt.
- I know I can give the screen a show text on fail and show text on success action to avoid the feedback to disappear after a few seconds, but this is also not shown
This is what I want
- 3 attempts
- Feedback on fail and success
- After 3th fail a button appears in the feedback allowing the user to go to next screen
- It would be amazing if the user sees what He/She did wrong I saw a function "Auto submit correct answers" what does this do?
- i would like something to be shown like "try again" to indicate the users that He/She can do another attempt.
My Captivate also crashes every first time I open it. Not sure if anybody else has this issue, it gives Me a bit of a unsafe feeling working in it.
I'm running the latest Captivate version

I have no time right away to try out more but have some questions and tips.
What is indicated in D&D as 'Failure event' is really a Last Attempt event (Acitons tab)? You can use that event to show the Next button.
As for showing more feedback, I miss a detail: is this D&D set up as a question slide or a KC slide?

Hi Lilybiri,
I will dive into this and come back later today or tomorrow with a response. Thanks so far!
If I still remain to have issues I will share the eLearning with you and include a screenshot of my settings.

If you set your Drag and Drop Interaction to allow 3 attempts then you should see three Failure captions, one for each unsuccessful attempt. Change the text in these failure captions to say something like: "Incorrect. Try again.
Turn on the Reset button so that the learner can put everything back to a starting position again with one click if they fail. You may also want to turn on Redrag the Drop Source. That's an alternative to using the Reset.
Add another button to the slide and set it to pause the timeline at either the same time as the Drag and drop or slightly after. Set the Visible in Output value of this button to OFF so that it will be hidden when first entering the slide. Set the button action to Jump to Next Slide
Set the On Fail action of the Drag and Drop to SHOW this button. Unfortunately, the failure caption will still appear briefly and will be on a higher layer level than your added extra button. But the failure caption will fade after 1.5 seconds (if set to default) and that will just leave your final button telling them what to do next. If you make the background of the extra button the same colour as the text in the failure caption, you may be able to fudge it so that the learner doesn't actually see the failure text caption even though it's there for a second.
Turning on AutoSubmit Correct Answers means that the user doesn't need to click the Submit button if they get the question correct. It automatically detects a correct combination of matches and executes the ON Success action immediately.
Your issue with Captivate crashing will be something else entirely. Start a new thread for that.
