Hi!!

I'm having this particular problem:

When my tester clicks in one button that have "reproduce this audio", the audio plays after a delay of one or two seconds. This happen when the course is on scorm.cloud. However, I dont have the same issue testing it by myself.

Might be a reason why this happens? The same .zip doing that?

If you are testing it from a web server, the first time you play the audio it will need to download the audio before it can play.  That download time is probably what is causing your one or two second delay.  When you test from your own system using the Captivate preview, there is no download delay.

Before being able to help you in detail, I need to know which exact version you are using on which OS. You find the full version number under Help, About Captivate if you are on Windows.

Second question: what do you mean by "I dont have the same issue testing it by myself"?How did you test: using Preview HTML in Browser if you are not on the most recent version? Which browser(s) do you use for testing?

Third question: 'reproduce this audio', what type of audio and how did you start it? Is it slide audio, object audio or audio started with the command 'Play Audio' using an interaction?

Hi, Lilybiri

  • which exact version you are using: Adobe Captivate 2019 - 11.8.0.586 (attached image)
  • "I dont have the same issue testing it by myself". I mean that I tested it in scorm.cloud (like my tester did), browser Google, and Mozilla Firefox. It's no local preview.
  • Which browser(s) do you use for testing? Google, and Mozilla Firefox
  • what type of audio and how did you start it? It's an image with the command "Play Audio" (attached image to show, sorry I work with captivate in Spanish) that plays a .mp3. The audio is 2 seconds long.

I did my best responding to all the questions, I hope this can bring clarity. I'm not an expert on captivate (around four months using it) so sorry if the first question was ambiguous.

I now understand your translation, because you are using the Spanish version, where 'Play Audio' command is translated to 'reproducir audio' which seemed strange to me, but my  Spanish is rusty, didn't use it actively since years.

This is a action triggered by the Success event of the image used as button.  I thought all audio was loaded when the slide was entered, as Rod explains but that seems not to be the case. You tested from the same system where you created the project? If yes, is it possible to test from another system on SCORM Cloud? Did your testers use the same browser?

I cannot double-check because I don't have that (buggy...) version on any system. I have the 11.8.2 version (also buggy).

If I am correct, even though your tester may experience a delay the first time they click the button to play the audio (due to the download required) they will not experience a similar delay when they click the button again, because the audio file would now be cached in the browser.
