Will the functions and features be the same?
As long as you are on subscription, unless Adobe changes the price/month (I'm only a user), when a new version is released you'll be able to download and install that version. You can have maximum two different versions installed on your system. If CP10 is released, and you now have CP8 and CP9 on your system with a subscription license, you will have to lose one of those to be able to install CP10. Whereas if you bought CP8 and CP9 with a perpetual license, and you buy another license for CP10,

The app doesn't change. It's just how you're paying for it.

It is the same application. Difference is that you'll get updates for free with the subscription license, but can only have two versions of Captivate on a system with the subscription license. If you buy a license you can have as many versions on your system as you bought. No free updates (except patches, dot releases).

Do you mean free upgrades up to 2 versions if i purchase though subscription? Is my understanding correct?
Is it really cheaper if I purchase it via subscription?

Cheaper? That depends on the frequence of the releases of course. You can do some maths yourself, right? Price is also dependent on the country you are living.
