My concern is that I still need Captivate Classic, so I'm hesitant to download the New Captivate version. Will donwloading the New Captivate overwrite the Captivate Classic (i.e. 2019) that's on my machine?

I wished a clear official explanation was around, including the correct installation workflow. Sorry for the rant, I am just a user like you.

Since the new version is still limited in its features (only responsive projects is only one of those limitations), Adobe decided to keep Captivate Classic supported along the new version (same license).

Personally this workflow worked fine for me for the installation of both versions:

  1.  Update your present version of CP2019 to the latest version which is 11.8.2; you'll see that it is renamed to Captivate Classic and its icon changes.
  2. Now install the new version. It has the original Captivate icon and its native extension cpt (while Classic keeps cptx).
  3. The structure of the eLearning assets is more chaotic, but that is my opinion. It is different on Windows and Mac. I am a Win user, what do you use?

Thanks, Lilybiri. I use Windows. Sounds like installing it won't present any problems.

Indeed, that workflow worked perfectly for me. Crossing my fingers that you are lucky as well.
