Hi
I have tried several of the drag& drop templates in Captivate 2019. All of them only allow the learner to submit correct answers. If the learner drags a drop source to the wrong target it automatically returns to the origin.
Does anyone know how to turn this off and allow people to submit incorrect answers?
Thanks for your help
Those are NOT templates (is important), they are Quick Start Projects, which you can freely use and edit by replacing text, images, edit setups etc. A template file has placeholders as in master slides, and placeholder slides.
OK, now I know which slides you are point at. What you see in those slides is due to the setup of the Drag&Drop Interaction. I looked at the setup in Alliance. Here are the steps to correct this so that you can submit an incorrect answer. I will add a screenshot as well:

I don't know what you mean exactly because Captivate has never been packaged with 'templates' which are cptl-files. Maybe you mean the Quick Start Projects? If that is the case, could you please identify the project and the number of the slide you are talking about? It is indeed possible to have Auto Submit for correct answers, but if you use a Submit button it is possible to submit an incorrect answer and you will get the Failure message. The setup shows that you don't use Auto Submit.
The so-called 'Failure' action is in reality a Last Attempt action, happens only after the last attempt. But in the screenshot you show there is only one attempt, which means that the Last Attempt action is the unique Failure action.
Please tell me what you mean exactly because now I am only guessing and explain the basics of Drag&Drop. In the screenshot it is impossible to see if that slide is scored or if it is just used as a Knowledge Check slide. Difference would be that the D&D slide is reset if it is a KC slide when leaving the slide, it will not be reset if it is a scored slide.

"if you use a Submit button it is possible to submit an incorrect answer" that is what i want to happen. If you drag an item to the wrong location it automatically reverts to the start postion. That is the problem. The items only "stick" if you get it correct.
I have run into this with several templates including
The slide is not part of a quiz, it is not scored.

You need to repeat this workflow for each of the drop targets. I may write out a blog to explain how to edit Drag&Drop slides from the QSPs. I already blogged several times about them, to explain workflows. Here are two links:
