I work building software simulations, and one of the functions of this particular software is that you drag items to orient them in a list. That part works perfectly, the issue comes with getting a failure caption to work if they don't drag it to the right location.
The way the simulation is set up is so the slide advances automatically if the user drags the item to the right spot, bypassing the submit button which I've hidden off the stage. That works well, except that if they drag the item to the wrong location, the item resets to it's original position and no failure caption appears. I'd like it to reset position, but am struggling with how to get the failure caption to appear. I've tried creating the caption separately and having it triggered by "failure" and setting the attempts to "1", but I think Captivate just doesn't see it as a failure.
Much appreciated for any guidance y'all can give me.

How did you set up the correct answers?
A common misunderstanding is the 'Failure' action which is actually a 'Last Attempt' action, not a Failure action, wrong terminology since quite a while.
I wrote some articles about D&D slides. You didn't specify if the D&D is scored or not?

Each slide has one drag source and one drag target. It's set up to auto submit correct answers, but I also have an object action set up on the drag source to advance to the next slide when it goes to the correct spot. This may be redundant.
I currently have no success/failure action assigned to the drag and drop interaction as when I tried this as a method for getting a failure caption to appear it did not work.
The D&D is not scored.

Can you read the first post for which I posted a link?
No need for an object action. Use the Success action for the command 'Go to Next Slide'.
