Hi,
I have a client that won't allow hyperlinks so I planned to offer up the full URLs for users to copy and paste into their own browsers. This, of course, would need dynamic text in the Captivate output ( HTML5 only at client's request ). I have tried to follow earlier posts that suggested inserting variables within the text but with no success - does anyone know if the latest version of Captivate renders the variable text at run time?
Many thanks,
Ash
Got it. I never had that requirement; did you ever try to use the Scrollng Text interaction for that purpose? It has the possibility to allow the user to write as well, but no limitations. Beware, I didn't check it out, just an idea.

Bit confused: I understand dynamic text containers as being text with inserted variables. The problem in previous versions was that since the text was rendered on runtime, only websafe fonts could be used. CP2017 offers the possibility to use Typekit fonts, which is a workaround. But your question seems to suggest that 'dynamic' is something different?

Hi Lieve, thank you for your reply. By dynamic I was meaning completely un-rendered (apologies if misusing the term), which I would need for users to be able to copy and subsequently paste the text. The only way I have managed to come close is to insert a Text Entry Box and using the Default Text option to display the URL text, and allowing only numbers to be used to reduce the user's ability to overwrite. This allows the URL text to be copied but runs the risk of the user deleting or overwriting the default text - which, of course, is the real purpose of the text entry box. I could possible get around this if there were a reset button, but I think the only work around for this is for SWF output and not HTML5. Any ideas on alternate solutions? Many thanks. Ashley

I haven't tried that so will give it a go now.
Many thanks again - Ashley

Great, will try to memorize this workaround. I love that interaction, often use it to replace TEB, my Captivate intuition did not fail
