Embed Word doc in Captivate 9

Hi all,

I am writing a course on proofreading and editing and I'd like for users to be able to download a word document that they can edit using track changes. However, I can't see a way to embed a word document in Captivate 9.

I have tried inserting a hyperlink to Google drive, and making the files there downloadable by anyone, but the link does not seem to work when I preview the sildes in the browser (I get a 404 error message):

Hope someone can suggest a solution!

Thanks very much,

Ruth

You cannot embed a Word document inside a Captivate CPTX project, but there's nothing to stop you from placing the doc file in the publish folder at the same level as the SWF file and then just link to it using the filename.  Upload the published content to a web server environment to test because Flash Global Security might interfere with the linking if you just test this from your hard drive.

Thanks! I will give this a go when I publish the file to an LMS. For now, I have figured out how to link to a file on google drive (turns out I just had the wrong pathname).

"I am writing a course on proofreading and editing and I'd like for users to be able to download a word document that they can edit using track changes."

Just beware that google docs can allow edits, it just takes one adventurous learner to save changes back to Google Docs and your exercise and interactivity becomes a puzzle for the rest of the learners.

Sure- I have just set the docs to view only, so they can download them but not edit them.
