Embedded videos don't work when published

New Here ,

I'm trying to embed a video into my Captivate 2017 project.  When the project is publishing the Adobe media encoder opens.  When I close it, the message that the conversion from FLV to MP4 has failed.   When I then open the published project, the video just continually loads until it times out and goes to the next slide.  If I embed a MP4 file, the video still won't load when published. This occurs locally and if it's on the LMS.

Sometimes stakeholders will provide videos in as high a resolution and bitrate as possible. This is great when videos run directly from a local drive, but if the video is being delivered over a company network or the web, the end user will never end up seeing the video because it never loads.

When I add MP4 files to my eLearning projects, I do what I can to resize them and optimise them for my Captivate project before I add them to my course. I usually open up videos into Adobe Media Encoder and re-encode them for just the screen size that I need. For example, 1280 x 720 or perhaps even less. Just as important is to re-encode with a lower bitrate. Often videos might be set for 10 Mbps or higher, however since these videos need to stream from your web server or LMS, I usually lower my settings to just a few Mbps, sometimes even only 1 or 2 Mbps. Videos will load much faster and give your learners a better user experience.
