Has anyone used interactive "H5P" content in Captivate?

Hi

I haven't tried but has anyone used interactive H5P Content in Captivate (e.g. CP9) HTML 5 output?

What were your experiences?

I like the "interactive video" example.

https://h5p.org/content-types-and-applications

It appears you can create the content on the H5P website and then either embed or download it on a web page.

If you embed it then it plays from the H5P website.

If you download it you need a H5P plugin to play it. There are plugins for Moodle, WordPress … but not for Captivate?

(I think the plugin also allows you to edit the content on the web page also).

Anyone looked into creating a plugin for Captivate?

Regards

Donal.

"you need a H5P plugin to play it. There are plugins for Moodle, WordPress … but not for Captivate?"

And, since Captivate is an authoring tool, you'd need the plugin for your LMS, rather than Captivate.

But, I'm not sure about content that requires a plugin for playback... in a post-flash world.

As each course built with this technology would then be dependent on the support of the plugin being updated for each OS release, browser revision, corporate IT policy change and any content revision to the course could trigger an avalanche of licensing issues.

Is the player free? In the public domain? Is the source available?

If not, it could later become licensed separate from the content.

You could find yourself managing licensees for the plugin and the embedded content.

Thanks BDuckWorks for the reply.

I have no LMS experience so I don't know the technicalities of what's involved.

I just came across H5P and was wondering if people used it and how they used it.

H5P is Open Source and Free to use.

I found more info (see below) in this link.

https://elearningindustry.com/h5p-an-open-source-html5-elearning-authoring-tool

"You can also start using H5P on your own site. H5P does not require any local software installation, and no plugins are necessary for the learners.

However, in order to author, publish and administer content on your own site, you need an H5P plugin for your CMS or LMS.

You can view H5P as an extension that enables your existing publishing platform to create rich, interactive HTML5 content.

Currently there are plugins for the popular open source publishing platforms Drupal and Joomla.

However, most of the H5P code is framework independent and it is easy to create plugins for additional platforms.

A broader selection of plugins will become available as the community grows."

I also came across this which talks about the possibilities about intergrating Storyline with H5P (maybe the same can be done with Captivate?):

"I'm in the H5P Core team and I find this question interesting. I can think of a few ways that Articulate and H5P could be integrated. Enabling Articulate to export H5P files would make it possible to use Articulate as an authoring tool for H5P enabled web sites for instance, and Articulate could also be enabled to import H5P content the same way it imports images and other content so that H5Ps may be used inside Articulate. This way we could combine the power of Articulate and H5P.

Imagine a professional content developer who creates high end e-learning content and sends it to a customer. After a few weeks the content needs a tiny update because some facts have changed. Now if this was H5P content the customer would just browse to the content with his web browser and change that piece of text himself right a way. A definitive win for the customer and for Articulate."

2018 and time to wake this topic up, I think.

Back in the days of Flash, there were ways of incorporating Flash content into a Drupal content type. I've never been able to figure out how you do the same with html5. That is, incorporate Captivate html5 output into Drupal (or WordPress) content. Now I've suddenly become aware of H5P, which apparently works with Drupal, WordPress, and Moodle. It seems to me there should be a way of outputting Captivate content in H5P or of converting it to H5P after publication.

Is this worth a feature request, do you think?
