Would appreciate help in resetting any survey slide to its original form (able to re-select and re-submit choices) after one revisits it via the Back button.
Can you confirm the exact version of your software and operating system?
Can you also confirm that you would like learners to answer the same question several times? Have you tested changing the amount of attempts in the Action area of Quiz Properties panel?

Survey slides (including the Likert type) are subject to the same rules as graded quiz slides:
This is the case since many versions.
What I never tried for Survey question slides (which I always replace by custom slides) is if the Submit All feature is functional. You may try that: free navigation will be possible until the user decides to submit all answers at once.
@Eric Dumas I suspect you overlooked the fact that the OP talks about Survey question slides, not graded question slides. Moreover resetting ONE quiz slide is impossible out of the box, both for Graded and Survey types.
@Lilybiri - Thank you for covering all the bases. They make perfect logical sense. We did try another way, which is to convert survey slides to graded, setting it to infinite attempts and setting points scored to "0". It works on some of the multiple-choice question slides when the Back button is used to land on them. However, it is quirky - does not work on multiple select slides.
The 'rules' are the same for graded quiz slides. You cannot reset one slide, you need to use the Retake functionality to reset all answers.
It is not a good idea to enable the Back button, because answers are locked once you leave a question slide. That means - if you hide the playbar which is recommended - the learner will be stuck on a question slide when having used the Back button.
I did use graded questions for a survey to have a possibility to evaluate the result of the survey. There are some articles on my blog for those workflows. But neither your idea nor those blogs will give an answer to your original question, because reseting ONE survey or quiz slide is not possible if you use default quiz slides.
