Hotspot Widget Changing Image State

I am currently using Adobe Captivate Version 12.4. One issue that I am having is that I cannot amend the state of the image that I am using for the background of the Hotspot Widget. Basically what I am trying to do is that when the user clicks on a hotspot, the image at the back of the widget, greys out.

I am trying to accomplish this by adding 2 states to the image. One which is crisp and will display when no Hotspot is selected and one which is greyed out (or has the brightness turned all the way down).

Can anyone advise if this is possible please?

Sadly, I don't think states can be set for the background image of a hotspot (although I think this idea is cool!). Widgets don't have a ton of customization, as of right now, at least.

That is a pity. I found the Hotspot widget really good but the states on the background image would make it better as I would be able to darken the background in order to make the point the user clicked on more visible.

Will these sorts of things be released in the future?

I have no clue!

My only solution you could do is change the color/font size of the callout so that it draws the learners attention more.
