How can I Copy/Paste audio from one slide to another in Captivate 8?

When I try to copy a bit of audio from one side to another, I have the Copy and Paste functions, but it does not work.  Must be simple, but I have not been able to figure it out.

Try to find the clip in the Library with the right-click menu. Drag it to

the slide where you want the copy.

I looked for that library, but was not successful.  Is it possible to cut an audio piece out of one slide and paste it into another?  That would be ideal.  But, if that is not possible, how do I get to the library you mentioned.  I did the right click thing a lot of places and did not see library.

Library and Timeline are two most important panels in Captivate! Did you use the right-menu on the audio file, and choose option 'Find in Library'? The LIbrary should open automatically and the audio clip is selected.  You are probably using the newbie UI, there is a Big Button on top right next to the Properties button that opens the Library as well. All your audio clips are there. Avoid using the clipboard (cut/paste).

I am pretty good with the Timeline and I was able to open the library and find the audio.  What I need to do is take a small piece from slide two and insert it into slide one.  That seems like it should be a no brainer to me, but none of the things I've tried has worked.  Following your advice in dragging from the library to the slide over wrote the audio that was already there.  Very bad news.  Did I miss something?

If that cannot happen, I know there is a way to combine two slides into one.  I saw that command when I was looking for something else,  Of course, now, I cannot find it.  Any help with that?

Captivate does allow you to edit audio files to a limited extent, but you need to make sure you are in the EDIT tab of the Slide Audio dialog, not the Add/Replace tab.

You cannot cut and paste a chunk of audio from one slide to another using this dialog.  You can only cut and paste audio from one part of the audio clip to another part of that same clip.  In order to combine audio from a separate clip you need to insert the entire clip and then cut out the bits you do not want.  Tedious, I agree, but that's the way it is.  If you have the Adobe Creative Cloud, use Adobe Audition to edit your clips outside of Captivate.

Your answer is not what I wanted to hear, but there are many things that are not what I want.  I appreciate your taking the time to help.  It's good to know the reality even if it is not what I prefer.  I'm going to group; two slides and see if that can help solve my problem.  What is happening is that I have one slide that ends with what I want to be a click box.  Problem is, there is a word or half a word that is on the next slide.  I can't really stop the slide with a word on the next slide.  I am surprised that Adobe has not seen the necessity of copy and past from one slide to the next.  To me that is a no brainer. I know I will find a way around the problem.  Too bad it is not so plain and simple as it could be.

In reality it only really takes a couple of minutes to just insert the audio from the second slide onto the end of the audio from the first slide so that you get the extra word you wanted. Then you just delete the extra unwanted audio from that combined clip on side one and then delete the extra word from the beginning of the audio still there on slide 2.

I agree it should be a no brainer but that's the way it is.
