Every time I import a slide it winds up at the end instead of where I want to insert it. Then it takes a while for me to drag it up to where it needs to be. So I have 2 questions:
1. Why does the inserted slide wind up at the end?
2. How can I easily move it to where it needs to be? dragging the slide is time consuming.
Thanks.
In the filmstrip, select the slides that you want to group, use the right-click menu (Group, Create Group) or the shortcut key CTRL-ALT-G.
You can name the group, it is also identified by a color (can be customized). If you use the TOC, group name will appear at the highest level.

That's really odd.
I usually find that an inserted slide will slot itself in directly after the currently selected slide.
So what happens in your case if you select the very first slide in the filmstrip and then insert a new slide, where does it come in the order?

Hang on...just noticed in one part of your post you speak about IMPORTING slides.
Si are these slides being brought in from a PPT presentation or something?

Hi RodWard, Yes, I'm importing these slides from a PPT deck. Does that make a difference?
Also, I'm not able to "Cut" and "Paste" slides so I copy and paste within Captivate (instead of dragging the slide to a different spot) then go back and delete the slide. This is still tedious but faster than dragging the slide.
Hi Lilybiri, I didn't know you could group slides - how do you do that?
Thanks!

Yes. Importing from PPT is not the same as just inserting a normal slide.

You can use Cut/Copy as well for slides.
There is no shortcut to go to a specific slide however. That is one of the reasons I always group slides in a logical way. When a group is collapsed, you can navigate much quicker in a big file with many slides. If you are using the Expert UI, the Filmstrip can be a floating panel, which allows to resize it, so that you have a better overview of the slides. Another approach is to use the Branching view (which has an overview part).
