Nothing against Captivate but I don't like to use the built in quiz functions. It is very quirky and not intuitive (sorry Adobe, no disrespect). I would much rather create the quiz using advanced Actions but I have a Captivate file that had a quiz in it already and I am trying to delete the quiz slides entirely but the Quiz Results slide is still there (and probably some other back end content that I am not aware of) . I want to keep all the other slides in the file and remove anything that has to do with the quiz, but can't seem to do that. Does anyone have suggestions.
BTW, Part of the problem could be my computer. I noticed that others have better luck with quizzes but when they are made on my machine the published results are different even when using the exact same file. Google research has mentioned that there are Updates that need to be installed however even after they were installed it doesn't publish the correctly. Nonetheless I prefer using the advanced actions (much more controllable). I am running Captivate version 8.0.0.145.

First, do try the update. The latest is 8.0.1 and is available here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/captivate/downloads.html
Or, should be available from your CP 'Help > Update' menu.
I've seen that Quiz Results slide stuck before.
First, check the Quiz Preferences and be sure 'Show Score At End Of Quiz' is UNchecked.
If that doesn't work, best I'd recommend is create a new project with the same overall settings (template, size, etc), then copy/paste the slides that you DO want from the old file to the new one.

Since two versions, the results slide can be hidden but not removed. It doesn't matter because it will not be in the published version.

You need to be aware that removing all quiz slides will limit to a large extent what you do with your quiz. Yes you can certainly use other interactive objects such as click boxes, text entry boxes, and buttons if you set them to have a score reported to the quiz. But you cannot have user variables included in your quiz. Captivate's quizzing has a number of system variables that are only READ ONLY. You cannot alter them with Advanced Actions.

Plus it's wayyyyy more work and will take you wayyyyy longer to build your own quizzes with advanced actions....
