How is this discussion forum organized?!

Hi All,

I'm having a hard time trying to find information on this discussion forum.

The site looks "pretty", but all I can determine is that questions are just displayed as they are entered.

Can someone point me to the page where I can see categories so I can drill down to post, answer or search for items.

It depends how you enter the forums: are you using the eLearning portal or do you come directly to the Adobe forums where all applications are present? If you click on this link, you'll end up in those forums, called the Jive forums.  There are some subcategories, but most users just post in the main forum for Captivate.

Search is not working really well, because there is no way to sort the results. Most users do not bother to add tags at all, which explains.

I entered the forums, first through the Captivate portal in the program. I didn't like the small screen space and then searched for Adobe elearning and ended up in the forum.

I took a look at the Adobe forums as you suggested and selected Captivate. But again it only lists Recent Discussions.

Am I missing the boat? Just listing recent discussions and not organizing by any type of topic/subtopic is useless.  Unless I hit the jackpot with the wording in my query, I will miss out on info. Who designed this forum structure? I just hope some learning/knowledge experts can get a hand at redesigning the structure.

Adobe hasn't developed this platform, it is Jive. I don't like it neither, but got used to it.  I find it still easier to use and manage than the portal. Reason: blog posts, show cases, discussions, Q&A are all mixed up there. Search has the same problems as here in the Jive forums. Questions posted on the portal are synchronized to the Jive forums, where I am one of the moderators (not in the portal). In the portal you can bookmark items. That is one of the advantages as is the better look.

You'll see in this forum some subspaces: Advanced, Starters, Quizzing.... But as I already mentioned most users don't even care about those subspaces, and I gave up moving threads, since answers seem more important than such administration.

Threads (rarely discussions, mostly Q&A) are listed chronologically. You have to use the Search option to find subjects linked to your problems.

It's unfortunate that Adobe, while trying to position itself as a forward-thinking company, has screwed up the wholde forums concept. Totally unacceptable, in my opinion, if it's geared towards educational folks (or anyone who adheres to best principles when it comes to disemminating information) like ourselves.

For me it makes it hard to share ideas, etc.
