How to add a downloadable link for a Captivate video on a website?

We are trying to make a download button that will allow our customers to download our videos in order for them to save them on their own devices. When we zipped the file and tried to click the index.html the link seemed broken as the video did not play. Does this seem like this is something on our end or is there another way I should be publishing it?

Also, I did try publishing it as a PDF version for our website as well, and same issue.

Thanks in advance for your insight.

If you wish to have the user interact with the course but you want them to download it, the only option is to Publish to My Computer as a Windows Executable or a Mac Executable. This does mean that they cannot be responsive design but if these are Standard (blank) projects such as software simulations or video demos that should work fine. This way the end product is a single file that anyone can download in one click.

What do you mean by VIdeos? MP4's or Captivate Output files?

You should just be able to create a link to a zip file and it should prompt the user to download and unzip.

My video is an elearning click-through video. We did link it to a zip, but when the "index"" was clicked the screen was blank.

Hi Amber,

I think it would be helpful if we clarified what you are asking.  When you say "allow our customers to download our videos" Do you mean a video, (for example an MP4 of a walk-through) that they would play on their devices? if so,  where are you hosting it, as that would determine how it is downloaded? if you mean you're outputting the project to a web format then they won't be able to download and play, they will however,  be able to click and play it if you have hosted on a web server.

Can you clarify what you mean?

Cheers

Steve

From the original question it is clear that HTML output is the goal (reference to index.html file). Both interactive pdf and standalone files are Flash-based. I doubt this will be a solution in this case. It looks like Flash has been banned, reason why the interactive pdf is not showing up (you need Adobe Reader and Flash plug-in).

For HTML output, the best (and probably only way) is to upload the output folder to a webserver and send over the URL.

Just offering an alternative. If it doesn't work for their particular situation fine, they can try something else. Sometimes the solutions are not perfect or ideal but you may need to compromise to get the job done.
