Sorry, I don't know why you point to advanced actions? Maybe something is missing in this question.

Unless you are on a very old version of Captivate, what you ask for is available out of the package in Captivate:

  • Insert Knowledge Check question from the Quiz menu.
  • Choose Multiple Choice and the number of questions you want to insert.
  • Edit the Quiz Properties of the KC slide. Both normal question slides and Knowledge Check slides use the same quizzing master slides, but the default setup is bit different. Look at this blog post to discover the differences:
    https://blog.lilybiri.com/knowledge-check-slides-tips
  • The choice for one correct answer and multiple correct answers is available like for question slides.
  • You will need to change the number of attempts, which is set at Infinite, but you want 3 attempts on question level.

Tell me what I am missing? I use advanced actions for custom question slides which do not have the features to be found in the default ones, and cannot be tweaked to do so. I have published almost 40 blog posts about Quizzing. If you want more links, please let me know.

Thank you for the above info, that is very helpful. I apologize, that I dint clearly mention the category type of mcq whether it would be default or custom mcq. In the case of custom multiple choice how to create it using advanced action?

My question was: why would you need a custom question? If it is a Knowledge Check question, it is not supposed to have a score. Do you want more than just text in the answers/questions? You can even use images in such a question, here is a blog post where I explain how to do that based on the default question slides.

Please clarify the reason why you insiste on shared/advanced actions? I would use shared actions for sure. Do you want to use dropdown lists, multistate objects or something else?

Yes, you are right knowledge checks don't have a score and I completely forgot it. I got confused between the KC slide & Question slide. So there is no use creating a Kc slide that doesn't have a score.

The reason why I asked is for my test project which needs these Mcq. So is it possible to create a question slide with advanced action with the answers to be recorded in result slide? Don't knw how to write it..

For easy reporting of custom question slides, you would use scored objects. Each interactive object can have a score attached to it. That score can be added to the total score, which means it will be added to the appropriate quizzing system variables. Those system variables are reported to any LMS. You'll see the Total score perfectly in the Advanced Interaction panel (F9). I explained this panel in this post:

https://blog.lilybiri.com/advanced-interaction-panel-q-and-a

Answers are never shown in the results slide, only the score, percentage, attempts.

Know that you'll lose some features of the default quiz slides: Review and Retake functionality on quiz level. That can be done but you would need rather complicated programming.

Here is a link to an article describing the workflow for a custom MCQ slide with multiple correct answers:

Most of my posts about custom questions are from the SWF era. Here is
