How to reset object from variable Captivate 2017

New Here ,
Jan 07, 2022 Jan 07, 2022

Action:
1. If all buttons already done to click, the state from the other slide will be change to "read" else the state change to "normal" (solve)
2. If we click the reset button, all of state will be change to "normal" and back to the initial.

Problem:
For the reset button, it can change all the states to "normal" but cant back to initial. When i run again and not finish the button then revisit, that state back to "read again".
Do i have reset the variable, if so how?

To change the value of a User Variable, use the Assign action.  If you have multiple variables to reassign, us an Advanced Action with multiple Assign actions, one for each User Variable.

This is very basic Captivate functionality.  If you have not received any training about Captivate interactivity, look for information about User Variables, Actions, Run-time Events, Advanced Actions and Conditional Actions.

Yes, I use assign, but why can't I go back to that slide again. It's like there are programs that are piled up.

Which 'reset' button are you referring to?  Is it the Retake Quiz button on the Quiz Results slide or some other button that you have added?

Not the button in the quiz section. It's the button that i've added (gray button).

Just like what i asked before, if all (gray) buttons already done to click, the state from the other slide will be change to "read" else the state change to "normal" (solved).
If we click the reset button (want to repeat that overview section again), all of state will be change to "normal" and back to the initial.

The problem for the reset button, it can change all the states to "normal" but can't back to initial. When i run again and not finish the button then revisit, that state back to "read again".

I have no idea how to fix it 😞

You had not shown this screenshot before so I was unaware you were talking about this button on the menu slide you have created.

If you only want this button to appear when all other sections have been completed, this requires a more complex interaction that is likely to be too difficult for your current level of expertise with Captivate. You will need to have a separate User Variable for each section that tracks whether or not the section was completed.  Then you need a Conditional Action executed ON Slide Enter of this menu slide to check all of the variables and decide what to do with the extra button.

Rod has followed this thread, not sure I can add some ideas. It is still not clear to me which particular 'gray button' you are talking about. I see a lot of menu buttons which are gray...

If you are talking about having something happened after all the gray buttons have been clicked, which is labeled as 'Forced view', I could offer a shared action which is rather easy to use. However I am not sure this is about a forced view workflow.

BTW: what is your mother tongue? It is difficult to understand your problem, which may be due to the language?

@dini: Could you please clarify if you are experiencing this problem because you are viewing the content from an LMS, then before completing the module you terminate playback and resume at a later date.

If so, then your issue is related to the fact that SCORM modules do not automatically preserve all object states when resuming a module.  The objects in the menu will appear as they would when you first opened the module.

Is this perhaps what you are describing?
