I'm having a problem with some quiz questions in Captivate 8 not loading correctly. They worked originally in SWF format but we are now converting to HTML5 and when I publish in HTML5, sometimes the question seems to freeze up as the page is loaded in the course. I can tell it is frozen because when you hover your mouse over the True and False answers, they are not highlighted. The way it is supposed to work (and sometimes does) is that if you select an answer, you see immediate correct/incorrect feedback, and then you have to click the Forward button to continue to the next slide. But when the question slide freezes, there's no hover-over highlighting, and if you click one of the answers, it jumps immediately to the next slide without showing you any feedback.
The weird thing is that if I go to a different slide (either with forward/back or with the TOC), and then return to that question, it will often (but not always) work correctly. I am using Captivate 8.0.3.290 and Firefox 52.7.3, but I could also recreate the problem in Internet Explorer. I also noticed that it is the second quiz question in the project (cptx file) and then every question after that which fails. If I rearrange the questions, it's always the second question that has the problem, regardless of whether it's a T/F or multiple choice question type. With enough jumping around, I can eventually get the question to load and work correctly, so I don't think there's anything fundamentally wrong with the properties for the question.
Any ideas?
Pam

Do you have any widgets in this project?

No, no widgets. I experimented with adjusting the timing of the slide (changing from 3 to 5 seconds) and moving the pause bar so the slide was Active for the entire 5 seconds. That seemed to eliminate the problem of jumping to the next slide without feedback (my On Success value is set to No Action, so it should never have jumped at all!) but it still doesn't highlight the choices, and you have to click twice in order to select an answer. And the problem still starts with the second question in the quiz, the first question works perfectly.

I would never move the pausing point to the end, leave at least a short inactive space.
Did you delete any of the embedded objects on the quiz slide. Embedded objects have o individual timeline. It is OK to turn them off if a checkbox is availale but never just delete them, not on the master slides nor on the quiz slide.
Maybe this is something you already do know. The Submit process has two steps, all linked with the Submit button and the pausing point:

Thanks. I have reset the pausing point back to leave the last 2 (of 5) seconds inactive, and reset the On Success value to Continue. I only reset it originally to try to resolve the problem of jumping unexpectedly to the next slide.
I did have another 2 objects originally on each question slide, an image with a Rollover Area which displayed instructions on how to answer the question. I deleted those because rollovers aren't supported in HTML5. I don't see any way to turn those off other than to delete them (even if I hide them on the timeline, they still appear in output).

Short space I meant 0,1 or 0,2secs Why did you extend the duration of the quiz slide?
I was only talking about embedded objects, those without an individual timeline:. Look at the quizzing master slide, you'll see what I mean.
The rollover was clearly a custom object with a timeline. Those ae safe to delete.
Which theme do you use? Was that theme created fin this version of Captivate?

I just extended the duration to see if it made a difference in getting the slide to load. The rest of our content slides are set to a default of 5 seconds. It doesn't matter to me what the total duration is for the quiz questions since we are pausing to await the user answer anyway.
These cptx files were originally created in Captivate 5, but have been updated in Captivate 8. We've only ever published them in SWF form so this is the first time we've run into the problem with the HTML output. We are using the White theme with a custom background to put a banner at the top and bottom of each slide.
I don't see a way to attach a sample here, but I can send one with a few question slides if it will help.

It could be that upgrade. Themes appeared only in CP6. Especially quiz slides are very sensitive to upgrades, certainly with such a big jump from 5 to 8. I hope you are on the most recent version of 8? It has no sense to send a file, I don't have 8 anymore. HTML output is indeed more sensitive as well.
Can you try to recreate one of the quiz slides in a new project with the White theme and see if you have the same problem? If you want to learn more about themes as they exist since 6 (responsive themes were added in CP8, and themes with Fluid Boxes in CP2017).

No luck there. I created a new project and added 2 t/f question slides using the White theme and our custom background banner. The first question works perfectly in HTML5, the second one has the problem -- answers don't highlight when you hover over them, and you have to click twice to get it to accept your answer. I also tried changing to a Blank theme and still had the problem.
I'm not sure why the theme would be the problem anyway, since all the slides use the same theme. The first question works fine and all subsequent questions are the ones that don't work correctly.
I am using 8.0.3.290, which I think is the latest version of 8. I also have Captivate 9 installed and I did test it there, with the same problem.

I am too tired, have to rest but I have really no idea what is going on. A theme is linked with a project, not with a slide. I often did see issues with upgraded projects because themes tend to change between versions. I cannot test for you, don't have 8 anymore. Hope someone else can help you better.

Appreciate your time, thanks for giving me some things to look at.
