I have a licensed copy of CP2017. I've gone to preferences set up to have custom workspaces and changed a few of the defaults and added a preloader. I closed CP and reopened to create my custom workspace and it isn't given as an option. It saves the other preference settings but keeps erasing the General Settings I've set for Back up project, Custom Workspaces and scaling graphics.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Susan
Hmmm, I have CP2017 and the first thing I do (after checking backups) is to switch to Expert UI and to set up workspaces.
What was your work flow? Are you able to insert panels in docking stations, to make panels floating and have the big buttons Library and Properties disappeared? If yes, you are in Expert UI. Set up the panels as you want them, then open the dropdown menu where you see Classic and choose the option New Workspace, you'll be able to save that setup under whatever name you want.

In the General Setting I selected Rescale Imported and pasted slide, Generate Project backup and Enable Custom Workspaces. Then I changed somethings in the default tab. Then I closed Captivate and reopened it per the instructions on the General Settings. Only Classic and Reset Classic are coming up as options. When I open the Preferences window my selections from before were no longer checked but the Defaults I'd set up were still there. I've signed in as an Administrator. I've done this at least 3 times today and still no luck.. Susan Wright (Equilady) Remember, the mighty oak was just a nut that held its ground.

Do you Run as administrator? That is not the same as having admin rights. Right-click on the shortcut key that starts Captivate and choose Run as Administrator.

I just upgraded to 2017 and I am having the same issue, it is not holding the "Enable Custom Workspaces" and I have followed these instructions as well. Did you end up getting it to work properly?

I always start by switching to Expert UI, choosing that option in Preferences. You have to restart Captivate to get that UI. Did you restart?
Be sure to run Captivate as Administrator.
