I cant publish or preview in html5 in browser... It worked well and then it stopped doing so. It just puts the loading icon forever. I have to turn in 4 modules this week for a client an none work, help please!
Thanks everyone for the advice. I tried hiding slides, but that process did not reveal my bad slide - I hid all new slides including many that were included in a previous version that still works well, but my problem persisted. I ended up copying the new slides and actions one by one into my old file and testing the publish/view with each addition. All works fine now. I can only assume that my bad file got corrupted by something along the way.
Frustrating and it cost me a day of work, but at lea

Have you checked the HTML Tracker window to see if there's an object incompatible with HTML5?

Thank you for your suggestion, but no items appear in that window. 😕
And this is the general error I get when I publish it on Chrome (or safari for that matter)

Is this what happens when you try to preview or can you actually publish to HTML5 but not load the published project when you click on it? Subtle, but important differences.
Cheers

Hmm.. Ok so this is the pre-loader window. So you are not having an issue publishing to HTML5 ( because you would have had to publish this and click the html file in order to see the preloader window ) you are having an issue launching your html project and also previewing it in Captivate. Can you preview it in any other setting such as browser, next five slides, project etc?
This is how you bug track : )

Just reconfirmed my issue - all preview options work EXCEPT html5 in browser.
Published HTML5 also does not load in browser.
HTML tracker shows NO errors.
Sorry to be butting in here, but it seems we are having a similar experience.
My older versions DO work normally, so there seems to be an issue with what I have added to the project today. I guess I'll have to unbuild until things work again, then try to redo. Unless Steve has another idea....

I'm actually starting to think it might be an issue with Captivate. I am having an issue previewing and publishing HTML5 as well. I'm wondering if the recent update broke something. Maybe Lilybiri or TLC or Rod Ward could chime in or confirm a bug?

I am having the same issue today. Captivate seems to go through its normal routine when preparing the preview and the publish, but neither open in the browser. I also get the infinite loading icon.
Earlier today things worked fine.
Just tried an old version of the project - previews fine in HTML5.
My current (and much expanded) version does NOT show any problems in HTML tracker, though.

I keep searching the web and forums to find out what's going on, yet there are no "standar issues" for some it gets fixed by eliminating some audio files, for some it's another random fix... :S I just don´t know what is it in my changes that made it not work...

That's OK... this is the bug tracking process- Its one of elimination. So lets continue..can you preview it in any other setting such as browser, next five slides, project etc?

Quick question Dan and Misha. Are either of you using any third party widgets, widgets you bought independantly from Captivate?

No, im using the ones included with Captivate so far....

Also, have you tried closing then starting Captivate again. I just did that and it resolved my HTML5 issue, if you do let me know if it works.

I tried full reboot and clear Captivate cache, yet still have the problem. Again, it's only on the file I was working with today. Older versions and older projects are working normally.
No, I'm not using any external widgets on this project. No Javascript, even. It's just straight-ahead advanced actions with no sound.

Hi Dan,
So its not a bug, its specific to your one project .. I really have no idea then.
I see that you are down one version. The newest one is 9.0.2.421. You may want to try upgrading but I always caution folks from upgrading mid-project. But if you don't resolve the issue and it means having to rebuild the project anyways then you really don't have anything to lose.
Sorry I couldn't help you resolve the issue.
Cheers

I had trouble publishing to html5.
html5 publishing error fixed: due to text formatting in accessibility text
To find "bad" slide, use a process of elimination. Hide some slides before publishing: Highlight some slides in the film strip > Right click and select HIDE. And publish. Start with half the slides and if it works the bug is on one of the hidden slides. If it doesn't work then select the other half and narrow down to one.

If Captivate IS actually publishing out the HTML5 content, have you tried uploading your published files to a web server or LMS and then testing from there? Your issue may simply be with trying to view HTML5 content locally on your machine, but the content might actually be working fine on the web where others will end up viewing it.

The projects that I created prior to the last update work fine, but when I bring them in and update the text and republish, then the projects do not open on my website.
