I have imported a Powerpoint into Captivate. Now I want to add video. How can I do this?

I imported the PPT, then added audio to each slide. Now I want to add video and add more audio to the video segments.  I tried adding the video to the PPT and then re-importing it, but I got an error message that told me to add the video from within Captivate.  But I don't see where I can insert the video in Captivate after I've imported the PPT slides.

I'm using Adobe Captivate 9 and Powerpoint 2013

Insert a Blank slide and add the video to it. You have the choice between slide video and event video. You can use a master slide to your wish. Captivate is not really a PPT converter...

I added a blank slide and used the "Media"-"Video" on the toolbar.  How do I get the video to play?  It doesn't work when I use "Preview"

Event video or multi-synched video? For event video, you need to click the Play button in its control panel, it plays independently of Captivate.

It's a video I made in iMovie...mp4.

MP4 is a 'general' name. To be on the safe side use the Adobe Media Encoder to re-encode the mp4 if it is not accepted by Captivate.

But I was asking how you did insert the video in Captivate: as event video or as multi-synchronized video?

I've done it as both.  I can't get either of them to play.

Ok, correction.  I tried it again as multi-synched and it plays a portion of my video (and severely changes the resolution.  Baby steps I suppose.

How did you test: Preview in? Use Preview in Browser (F12) or Preview HTML in Browser (F11). For Event video you have to click the Play button on the control panel, Multisynchronized video should play automatically.

Ideally your video should have the needed resolution in Captivate. Did you rescale the video?

I just used the "preview" "play slide" from the toolbar.

No, I brought the video over straight as it came out of iMovie...I have not tried to recode it yet.

That is NOT a preview at all, no temporary output is created. Play slide is only meant for editing, synchronizing the objects on the slide. Never use it as preview, it is not labeled as Preview but as Play slide.

I am leaving it as is and publishing it as a video to my desktop...I will see if it works/how it looks.

Thanks!
