I'm looking for educators who use Captivate

I really, really want to have a PLN group to talk with who are or were once new to Captivate, who use it with their students, to share info we find about how to make it work! Even more wonderful would be teachers who've gotten familiar with Captivate and could mentor us just a bit.

The forum is good, but it's not really education-oriented issues. I'm also hoping we can share really cool ideas we've had for using it with each other.

Is there anybody out there? I feel completely alone, and have for a couple years now, on Captivate stuff. 😕 It's discouraging. But I keep on keepin' on!

Hi!

I think I know what you're looking for. The Captivate forum here has wonderful experts but not the kind of chat you're describing. Your best bet is to join some Instructional Design, eLearning, and Captivate groups on LinkedIn. That's where you'll find more of this.

Are you part of ATD (ATD | The World’s Largest Talent Development Association). You'll find a LOT of eLearning people there, especially if you join a regional group.

You will also find a lot of helpful people on Twitter. Search for #lrnchat (L R N C H A T) and poke around a bit. I have some great eLearning lists ( https://twitter.com/kirstenrourke/lists ) you might want to look at.

Hope that helps

Kirsten

These are fantastic ideas, and I had no idea LinkedIn was that detailed on teaching. I'm already there, so I'll go hunt them down!

Tiwtter: didn't know about #lrnchat, though I regularly look for edu lists of hashtags. More great advice.

I'll also take a good, long look at your lists. Bless your heart, Kirsten, for taking the time!

Have you checked out the Adobe Education Exchange? There are a lot of educators and others who use Captivate and share ideas and best practices. Adobe Education Exchange

Yes, I'm registered there. I was hoping for a slightly more personal group. But there are some good things there. Thanks!

Oh good! I am in the process of working with the EdEx to get an Instructional Design (and other eLearning devs) subgroup started. Keep an eye out for news postings on the EdEx for that...maybe that could help too. And you can let us know if you find other helpful resources that you may come across!

Hi, Wendy,

Wonderful! A subgroup would be great, as when I search there, I find myself opening resources that are years old, and useless. My last experience was something from 2004.

I will absolutely post anything really good that I find, and will keep an eye out for the group. Thanks!

I am a few months late with this update, and not sure if you found the group yet...but if you have not, it would more than likely be due to the fact that the group was put in as a subgroup of the Adobe Education Trainers(AET) group. In order to view most of that content, users need to complete the AET course. Although completing the course IS more work, you do get the chance to meet more people during the course and remaining in the community brings continued updates to resources and discussions on all things Adobe and training/design.
